BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man on Wednesday after allegedly attempting to carry out a stabbing attack near the illegal Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba in Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank.

The man has been identified as 23-year-old Islam Rafiq Hammad Ibeido.

Witnesses told Ma'an that “Israeli soldiers shot 11 live bullets at the youth, let him bleed there, and put a knife in his hand."

The Israeli army said that "a Palestinian attempted to stab a soldier at a military position in Hebron" and that the "attacker was shot on site."

No injuries were reported.

Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld also said that a "Palestinian terrorist" was shot and killed, adding that "security measures" were continuing in the area.

A local activist, Imad Abu Shamsieh, told Ma'an that “Israeli soldiers opened fire at a youth in the Tel Rumeida area where Hammam Said was killed on Tuesday.”

Abu Shamsieh added that the youth was left on the ground while Israeli forces prevented bystanders from accessing him.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the West Bank said in a statement that Israeli forces prevented ambulances from reaching Ibeido.

Since the beginning of October, nearly 20 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces across Hebron district -- including five children. The majority were shot dead in Hebron city, in most cases after Israel alleged they attempted to carry out stabbing attacks on Israelis.

Late Tuesday evening, Hammam Said, 23, reportedly attempted to stab an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint in Tel Rumeida and was shot dead by Israeli forces.

Activists in the area said they heard six gunshots before seeing Israeli soldiers placing a knife near Said's body.

Wednesday's incident marks the 62nd Palestinian to be killed since the beginning of the month, many of whom have been killed during attacks on Israeli military personnel and civilians.

Eyewitnesses and rights groups investigations have reported several cases where Palestinians were deliberately shot dead when they posed no imminent threat.

Israeli police say those killed were attempting to carry out attacks in such cases.

In other cases, Palestinians were shot and left to bleed without medical attention, in violation of the prohibition of torture and other ill-treatment under international law, according to Amnesty International.

It looks to me it is the Israeli forces are out of control, not the Palestinians. They look to me like bunch of indians with no chief. And probably that's exactly what it is, Netanyahu unleasch his military to do whatever they want.

Have you noticed most of these attacks are against well armed, uniformed soldiers? On the one hand it's good the Palestinians are not attacking innocent civilians, women or children. But the soldiers are in a unique position to falsify the so called "attack" by controlling the scene, planting knives.

Your one sided biased reporting about Jews killing Palestinians and then sticking a knife in their hands is not only nonsense anyone who actually believes your allegations should be deported to either Syria or Lebanon...see how much fun it is living in those countries.
