Israeli forces shoot, injure protesters in Ramallah, Bethlehem clashes

AL-BIREH (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shot and injured nine Palestinians with rubber-coated steel bullets on Thursday during clashes near al-Bireh City in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah outside of the illegal Beit El Israeli settlement, medical sources said.

Medical sources said out of the nine, a 22-year-old was hit in the head with a rubber-coated steel bullet and taken to the Palestine Medical Complex for treatment.

During the clashes, Israeli forces fired live and rubber-coated steel bullets at protesters, who threw rocks at Israeli soldiers.

Separately, during clashes in Bethlehem on Thursday, Israeli forces shot and injured three Palestinians with live bullets in their legs, while many other were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets and suffered from tear gas inhalation, medics said.

The injured were taken to Beit Jala governmental hospital for treatment. 

Tensions have escalated across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since the beginning of the month, with clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces erupting daily, which have resulted in more than 1000 Palestinian injuries, according to the Red Crescent.

Since the beginning of the month, 32 Palestinians have been shot dead, 17 of whom were killed during clashes, with more than a thousand injured. Meanwhile, Palestinians have been responsible for the deaths of seven Israelis killed during the same time period, with dozens more injured in various attacks.
