HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces on Monday shot and injured nine Palestinians with rubber-coated steel bullets during clashes in central Hebron, leaving one in critical condition, medical sources told Ma'an.

Medics at Hebron's governmental hospital said that a Palestinian youth had been admitted to the intensive care unit after he was hit in the head with a rubber-coated steel bullet.

Dr. Walid Zalloum, the hospital's director, added that a journalist working for a local radio station in Hebron was among the others injured.

During the clashes in the Bab al-Zawiya area of central Hebron, Palestinian youths threw rocks and empty bottles at soldiers, who responded with rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters, causing a large number to suffer excessive tear gas inhalation.

Intense clashes broke out across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on Monday.

Israeli forces shot dead a 13-year-old Palestinian boy, identified as Abed al-Rahman Shadi Obeidallah, during clashes in Aida refugee camp near Bethlehem, Palestinian medics told Ma'an.

At least four other Palestinians were injured in Bethlehem's clashes, including one young man who was shot with live fire in his thigh, and another who was shot in the head with a rubber-coated steel bullet. Both were taken to hospital.

In Ramallah, meanwhile, Israeli forces shot and injured two Palestinian youths with live rounds during clashes east of el-Bireh.

The two unidentified Palestinians reportedly suffered injuries to their hands and were taken to Ramallah governmental hospital for treatment.

Over the weekend the Palestinian Red Crescent documented at least 96 Palestinians who were wounded by live rounds or rubber-coated steel bullets in clashes with Israeli forces and settlers.
