Israeli bus set ablaze by firebomb in East Jerusalem

Sept. 18, 2015 10:43 A.M. (Updated: Sept. 18, 2015 1:28 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- An Israeli bus was set on fire late Thursday in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Ras al-Amud after Palestinians hurled a firebomb at the vehicle, witnesses said.

Locals said that the bus went up in flames after youths targeted it while driving through the neighborhood. Israeli forces arrived in the area and cordoned off the scene of the incident.

Rocks were reportedly thrown at the vehicle before the firebomb, with no injuries reported.

Israeli media reported that the driver of the Egged bus was Palestinian, and fled the vehicle following the rock attacks.

The Ras al-Amud neighborhood is one of several Palestinian neighborhoods in the occupied city that has seen heightened Israeli security in recent days.

Tension between Israeli forces and Palestinian residents has skyrocketed in the area over increased presence of Israeli forces and rightist groups to the Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

I take it this was an actual firebomb as opposed to 'firebombs' commonly alleged to have been thrown by Palestinians who have just been murdered by the IDF. Note the pictures. These are invariably absent when it comes to 'firebombs.'

Colin Wright - Your Palestinian heroes will continue to toss rocks and firebombs at buses in East Jerusalem, UNTIL Egged decides to suspend bus service to troublesome neighborhoods.

Then, hypocrites like you will come here with incendiary comments about how Israel denies transportation to Arabs.

So, let me get this right:

- Racist zionist Israelis hire Palestinians to drive buses. I thought that they were into apartheid!

- "Freedom fighters" in East Jerusalem set the bus on fire, endangering Palestinian drivers along with other passengers.

It's normal vs insane, not Israeli vs Palestinian

I don't suppose that crappy level of services in East Jerusalem could be partly related to this type of behaviour? Surely it's only due to Israeli Apartheid policies.

And this will be classified as another "Peaceful Palestinian Protest".

I may have a bad, suspicious mind but the "wong turn" by a Palestininan bus driver, who conveniently fled after driving into a neighborhood he knew perfectly well was problematic (and not on his or any Egged route) is a little too convenient.

Palestinian Arabs are furious at the Israeli government for allowing Jews the right to visit Judaism's holiest site. It's sort of like rioting against Saudi Arabia because they let Muslims visit Mecca.
