BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained at least ten Palestinians across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem overnight, Palestinian and Israeli sources told Ma'an.

An Israeli army spokesperson said three Palestinians were detained from Beit Ummar, three from Jenin, two near Ramallah and two from theal-Eizariya town of east of Jerusalem.

The three Palestinians from Beit Ummar in northern Hebron were detained during a search raid early Thursday.

An Israeli army spokesperson said the three were detained for "suspected illegal activity."

Spokesperson of a local popular committee, Muhammed Awad, said that Israeli forces raided the Khallet al-Ein and al-Hara al-Tahta areas and detained Muhannad Youssef Muhsen Awad, 22, Nour Youssef Khdeir Awad, 23, and Jihad Youssef Hassan Alqam, 22.

Awad added that Israeli soldiers raided the homes of Muhannad Awad and Nour Awad while residents were sleeping, after breaking the main doors of the house using special tools.

Israeli soldiers also assaulted Nour Awad during his detention, Muhammed Awad said.

Muhammed Awad pointed out that 127 Palestinians from Beit Ummar havebeen detained since the beginning of the year, including 53 minors.

Three Palestinians were detained from the northern occupied West Bank district of Jenin.

An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma'an that one of the detainees was found in possession of "weaponry."

The two Palestinians were arrested near Ramallah, one from the village of Deir Qaddis, the other from the village of Aboud.

An Israeli army spokesperson said the the two were detained for being "Hamas terror operatives."

Additionally, two more Palestinians were detained fromthe town of al-Eizariya, east of Jerusalemfor "suspected activity," an Israeli army spokesperson said.

Israeli forces routinely detain Palestinians throughout the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, often on the pretext of perceived security threats, and Addameer estimates that 40 percent of the Palestinian male population has been arrested at some point.
