Israeli settler allegedly runs over Palestinian teen near Nablus

NABLUS (Ma’an) -- An Israeli settler on Sunday reportedly ran over a Palestinian teen in Yatma village in southern Nablus, a local monitor of settlement activity told Ma'an.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settler activities in the northern West Bank, said that an Israeli settler ran over Muhammad Mustafa Najjar, 19, and then fled the scene.

Daghlas added that the teen, who was moderately injured, was taken to Rafidia hospital in Nablus.

Settler violence has come under international scrutiny after an arson attack carried out by settlers last month in the southern Nablus village of Duma killed an 18-month-old infant and his father. The infant's mother and brother remain in critical condition.

Following the attack, Israeli human rights group B'Tselem said that the deadly attack has been "only a matter of time," pointing to a culture of impunity for Israeli settlers.

The perpetrators of settler violence against Palestinian civilians and their property -- both inside of Israel and the occupied territories -- are rarely punished, with police closing the majority investigations without an indictment.

Israeli settlers have carried out at least 133 attacks on Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank and their property since the start of 2015, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

If the shoe was on the other foot , such an incident will be labelled a terrorist incident.

- Jerusalem's was ancient Israel's capital long before the Turks or Jordanians invaded, or even the idea of a Palestinian state, so
- Palestinians may term Israel's presence in Jerusalem (or settlements) as "illegal", and other states may even agree, but
- Israel can and will remain there !!

The report is a bit strange. The main road has not been through Yitma in years. Would be odd to see Jewish drivers driving on the roads in Yitma.

Palestinian violence is increasing big time (more than 20 cases of Palestinians running over Israelis including many murders of Israelis by Palestinians). Israeli violence is increasing spurred by the Palestinian violence. I think it's time for peace.

In the same time that this report says Israelis carried out 133 attacks, the Palestinians have carried out over 1200 attacks against Israelis including attacks with cars, knifings, shootings, firebombs and rocks, leaving many Israelis dead. Palestinian violence will not bring peace or a state.
