RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian man Sunday by hitting him with their jeep after shooting him during clashes in the eastern Ramallah village of Kafr Malik, Palestinian medical sources told Ma'an.

The mayor of Ramallah, Laila Ghannam, told reporters that 22-year-old Abdullah Iyad Ghanayim had been killed by Israeli soldiers "in cold blood."

Palestinian sources said that Ghanayim had been shot in the lower back during clashes before a military jeep lost control and flipped on top of him on the sidewalk.

Witnesses said the jeep had been chasing Ghanayim after he had thrown stones.

The soldiers reportedly climbed out of the military jeep leaving Ghanayim under the vehicle for more than an hour.

An Israeli army spokeswoman gave a conflicting report, saying that during army "activities," a "suspicious man" attempted to throw a Molotov cocktail at Israeli forces.

One of the army vehicles swerved and lost control, hitting the Palestinian on the side of the road, she said, referring to the incident as an "accident."

She said Israeli emergency services arrived on the scene to treat "everyone" harmed, although she added that she could not confirm Ghanayim's death as he had been attended to by Palestinian medics.

She said the incident was under investigation.

Ghanayim served two years in Israeli jails and was freed only three months ago.

Local sources said six other Palestinians were injured during the clashes after they were shot by Israeli forces with rubber-coated steel bullets.

Ghanayim is the second Palestinian to die in clashes with Israeli forces in less than a week, after a man was shot dead during a confrontation with the army on Wednesday in Jenin refugee camp.

According to the UN, Israeli soldiers have killed 13 Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the year.

Molotov cocktails are lethal weapons. Those who throw them are armed combattants. The world is sick and tired of Palestinian war crimes being passed off as "resistance". The strongest resistance we see is Palestinians resisting peace talks.

Oh I wasn't aware that Mr. Brian Cohen, self-proclaimed Ambassador of the Planet Earth speaks on behalf of the entire world. By all means, enlighten us about the forms of "resistance" that were used to establish the so-called State of Israel. Its easy for you to excuse the Occupation, huh?

According to the internet, the guy threw a moltov cocktail at the army vehicle, which as-a-result lost control (as it was on fire), and ironically crushed the man as it overturned.
It is being spread around the internet right now as an example of Karma.

This holding onto what you stole by terrorizing the people you stole it from and then you play the victims just does not cut it with sane folk.

@brian if you think Israel wants peace talks, you are extremely stupid and naive.. Israeli soldiers have no right to be in Ramallah, and you have no right to be in former Palestine.. May this innocent man rest in peace.

I don't see any signs of the jeep being "on fire"

The apartheid will fall, and one day Palestinians will be free in their own country again. All the money and military strength can not overcome justice.

It seems like every time Israelis murder a Palestinian these days their go-to claim is that the person was holding, or had at some point thought about holding a molotov cocktail. It's starting to wear thin.

James, the West Bank isn't in Israel proper, and security is not apartheid. Palestinians will have a country when they pragmatically negotiate a peace agreement with Israel.

@Rami, I have an honest question for you. If Palestine becomes fully independent and Israel ends its occupation and pulls everyone out, do you think that within 5 years Hamas will be in charge of Palestine or not? And if so, will they still be committed to Israel's destruction? Got a gut feeling?

Rami / Palestine
@Phil. Hamas is struggling to survive. They know that the unity government, the UN upgrade, and the signing of international treaties is the death of their organization. They can't even control fringe groups within the strip. They are insignificant. They will never control the "State of Palestine".

Rabiah / Gaza, Ps
Phil, Rami lives in the W Bank, I don't. Hamas was democratically elected by the people previously. Whilst blockaded, Gaza is free. In an independent Palestine, why should the people not be free to choose Hamas to run it? In a free Palestine, no need to destroy Israel.

To Rabiah: '...In a free Palestine, no need to destroy Israel.' There is the minor detail that Israel occupies between 78% and 100% of Palestine, depending on your definitions. In any case, so long as there is an Israel, there can never be a free Palestine.
