University student released after 6 months in Israeli prison

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Birzeit University student Lina al-Khattab was released on Thursday afternoon from an Israeli prison after six months.

Dozens of her family members and friends welcomed her after she was released at the Jabara checkpoint south of Tulkarem.

Khattab was detained on Jan. 13 during a march by university students near Ofer prison, and was sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to pay a fine of 6,000 shekels ($1,560).
