JDECO files lawsuit against Israel Electric Corporation

June 4, 2015 9:18 P.M. (Updated: June 4, 2015 9:18 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- The general manager of the Jerusalem District Electric Company said that the company filed a lawsuit against the Israel Electric Corporation demanding the corporation pay some 500 million shekels worth of compensation for the financial losses and damages that JDECO suffered recently.

The financial losses and damages that JDECO paid were the result of the expensive fines that the company paid to Israel for days of delay, Hisham al-Omari said, and that the sustained losses exceed the demanded amount of money.

Al-Omari added that the basis of the lawsuit is the way that the Israel Electric Corporation deals with JDECO as a regular consumer while JDECO is considered one of the most important companies providing services for people and important sectors.

He said that the company pays its fines to the Israeli corporation after the 10th day of receiving the bill, pointing out that JDECO allows consumers in the West Bank to pay their bills a month after receiving the bill, while the company follows Israeli law for Jerusalem and allows consumers to pay the bills within two months.
