JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained five Palestinians including three teenagers after ransacking their homes in the Old City of Jerusalem and surrounding neighborhoods late Sunday, a prisoners' rights group said.

A lawyer for Addameer prisoners' rights groupMuhammad Mahmoudtold Ma’an that Israeli forces detained three minors from Ras al-Amoud inside the Old City and the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sur Bahir.

He identified them as 14-year-old Omar Suyuri, 16-year-old Muhammad Suyuri, and 16-year-old Yasin al-Atrash.

Separately, Mahmoud said, Israeli troops stormed Silwan neighborhood and arrested Musab Shuyukhi, 25, and Mansour Shuyukhi, 23, from their homes in Ein al-Fuqa.

An Israeli police spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

The arrests came following a day of clashes across occupied East Jerusalem where crowds of Jewish hardliners were celebrating the anniversary of East Jerusalem's capture in 1967.

At least five Palestinians were arrested near the walled Old City's Damascus Gate, and the Palestinian Red Crescent told Ma'an that 29 Palestinians were injured and received medical attention, with seven hospitalized.

The 1967 "annexation" of East Jerusalem has never been recognized by the international community.

-1- Sumud, "steadfast perseverance", is good, but reason is better, and
Palestinians should have learned over the decades, that
-2- Clashes never changed anything, except their numbers being sent to jails, hospitals, and morgues !!
