Israeli forces fire at Palestinian vehicle near Jenin, injure 2

March 7, 2015 2:20 P.M. (Updated: March 7, 2015 6:16 P.M.)
JENIN (Ma'an) -- Two young Palestinian men were injured overnight Friday after Israeli troops opened fire at their vehicle near al-Jalama checkpoint north of Jenin.

Palestinian security sources told Ma'an that one of the victims, Mustafa Ballut, 20, from Jenin, was taken to an Israeli hospital in Affula, suffering from serious wounds.

The other victim, 19-year-old Yousuf Abd al-Karim Abu Naasah from Jenin refugee camp was evacuated by a Palestinian ambulance to a public hospital in Jenin. Medics said his wounds were moderate.

The Israeli liaison department notified their Palestinian counterparts that Israeli troops fired at the vehicle because it aroused suspicions. The incident, they said, is being investigated.
