Israeli forces confiscate goods from East Jerusalem warehouse

Feb. 11, 2015 6:42 P.M. (Updated: Feb. 13, 2015 11:54 A.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces on Wednesday raided a building in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Tur and confiscated industrial materials in what the owner said was preparation for demolishing the property.

Locals told Ma'an that Israeli bulldozers and trucks escorted by special forces raided al-Tur and surrounded a building belonging to the Abu Sbitan family that is used as a warehouse for stone.

Israeli municipality authority employees allegedly confiscated stones and supplementary electrical equipment from the warehouse during the raid.

The building's owner, Nidal Abu Sbitan, told Ma'an that the workers raided the building without warning and started emptying steel structures used for selling stones.

Abu Sbitan told Ma'an that two of the structures were built on the family's land five years before.

The raid comes only a day after 14 Palestinians were left homeless after Israeli authorities demolished a home in the neighborhood of Silwan, near the Old City.
