Gaza: Man torches self out of despair, sustains critical burns

Feb. 8, 2015 11:23 A.M. (Updated: Feb. 8, 2015 11:23 A.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) – A Palestinian man from the Shujaiyya neighborhood of Gaza City sustained critical burns after he torched himself on Saturday evening.

Witnesses told Ma'an that a 30-year-old man was taken to Shifa hospital in critical condition after he burnt himself. They said they believe the dire economic conditions could be the motive behind the man's decision to set fire to himself.

This was not the first time in Gaza someone set himself on fire. There have been several attempts especially at shelter centers after the last Israeli military offensive against the coastal enclave.
