Israeli security guard shoots, injures Hebron teen

Jan. 4, 2015 3:55 P.M. (Updated: Jan. 5, 2015 3:08 P.M.)
HEBRON (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian teenager was shot in the foot on Sunday by a security guard of the Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arbaa east of Hebron, locals said.

Local sources identified the teen as 18-year-old Haytham Ziad Hijazi al-Rajabi.

The security guard shot al-Rajabi during clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli troops in the Jabal Juhur neighborhood near the illegal settlement of Kiryat Arbaa.

He was taken to al-Ahli hospital for treatment.

A 1997 agreement split Hebron into areas of Palestinian and Israeli control.

Over 500,000 Israeli settlers live in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.
