Dec. 1, 2014 5:12 P.M. (Updated: Dec. 2, 2014 7:08 P.M.)
NABLUS (Ma'an) -- An Israeli settler was knocked down by a car and critically injured on Monday near Nablus in the northern West Bank, Israeli media reported.

The 50-year-old man was hit near the Zaatara checkpoint south of Nablus and critically wounded, according to Israeli news site Ynet.

The vehicle fled the scene of the incident.

An Israeli army spokesman could not confirm the nature of the incident or whether the victim was a settler.

A Ma'an reporter said that Israeli forces closed the Huwwara and Zaatara military checkpoints following the incident as Israeli forces search for the driver.
