Memorial for Gaza victims at embassy of Palestine in Moscow

Aug. 10, 2014 11:00 P.M. (Updated: Aug. 10, 2014 11:00 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma’an) – A giant memorial with names of Palestinians killed in the Israeli military offensive against the Gaza Strip was posted Sunday on the outer walls of the embassy of Palestine in Moscow.

A statement from the embassy explained that full names of victims were listed in Russian along with age and place of residence.

The idea behind the memorial is to enable the Russian people to identify “victims of the Israeli aggression in names not only in numbers because martyrs aren’t just numbers.”

Ambassador of Palestine Faed Mustafa laid a wreath of flowers while crowds and a sheikh Wisam Bardawil prayed for Gaza victims.

This memorial, Mustafa told the crowds, is a register of honor and pride adding a “new group of martyrs to those the Palestinian people have been sacrificing on the altar of freedom since 1948 and even before.”
