Army: Israel troops kill 5 Palestinian militants in Gaza gun battle

July 29, 2014 7:00 P.M. (Updated: July 29, 2014 7:00 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (AFP) - Israeli troops on Tuesday killed five Palestinian militants as they left a tunnel in the Gaza Strip, an army statement said.

The army said its "forces identified five terrorists emerging from a tunnel shaft in the Gaza Strip. The terrorists fired at the troops, who responded and engaged the perpetrators."

Forces have targeted "over 110" sites in Gaza since midnight, the statement said.
