Israeli forces detain Palestinian in al-Bireh before iftar

July 27, 2014 8:50 P.M. (Updated: July 29, 2014 10:20 A.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a young Palestinian man from his home in al-Bireh near Ramallah on Saturday evening, threatening his family members throughout the raid.

Muhammad Munthir al-Auri, 22 was detained after a raid on his home near Ali Ibn Abu Talib Mosque minutes before the evening breaking of fast, or iftar.

Family members told Ma'an that Israeli forces hand-cuffed Sheikh Munthir al-Auri and all his sons Muhammad, Ibrahim, Mousa, and Sufyan during the raid, assaulting them with clubs before they took Muhammad into custody.

The detainee's mother and aunt, meanwhile, were locked inside a room at gunpoint. The soldiers fired six live gunshots inside the house, family members said.
