Clashes at Aqsa as deputy Knesset speaker tries to deliver speech

July 16, 2014 2:31 A.M. (Updated: July 16, 2014 2:31 A.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma’an) – Clashes and fistfights broke out inside the al-Aqsa Mosque compound Tuesday morning between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli police officers who escorted the right-wing deputy Knesset speaker Moshe Feiglin into the compound.

Witnesses said Feiglin entered the compound and arrived next to the Dome of the Rock. He started to deliver a speech in front of TV cameras, expressing his support to the Israeli military offensive against the Gaza Strip.

After that, worshipers interrupted him shouting "Allahu Akbar." At that point Israeli special forces broke into the compound and attacked worshipers and employees of the Palestinian ministry of endowment.
