JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- An Israeli court in Jerusalem sentenced 16 Palestinians to house arrest, a lawyer said Friday.

A Palestinian Prisoner’s Society lawyer said that 10 Palestinians were sentenced to 10 days of house arrest and a 500-shekel fine, while another six were sentenced to seven days and a 500-shekel fine.

The 16 were detained Wednesday and Thursday along with another 20 Palestinians

The lawyer, Mufid al-Hajj, said the 12 were still in detention for “investigation” or “legal procedures.”
