Israeli forces detain several Hamas leaders in West Bank

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) – Israeli forces carried out multiple predawn raids across the West Bank on Wednesday detaining several Hamas leaders, says Palestinian Human rights group and security sources.

Ahrar Center for Prisoners’ Studies and Human Rights irector Fuad al-Khuffash said that Israeli troops detained Ghassan Thouqan in Nablus in the northern West Bank. Thouqan, according to the report, is a lecturer at Al-Najah National University. He had served several years in Israeli custody.

Israeli forces also detained former prisoner Rasheed Dweikat from his home in the village of Beita south of Nablus.

In addition, Israeli troops raided Jabaa village in Jenin district and detained senior Hamas leader Nazeeh Abu Aun. The center highlighted that Abu Aun had spent more than 16 years in Israeli jails. Wael Hashash was also detained in Jabaa.

In Ramallah district in the central West Bank, Israeli forces stormed the village of Kubar and detained former prisoner Ibrahim al-Abed.

Similarly, Israeli troops stormed the Bethlehem-area village of Tuqu in the southern West Bank and detained Sahir Sabbah and Omar Sabbah.

In the Nablus-area village of Odala Israeli forces detained 29-year-old Mahir Abdul-Rahim. Palestinian security sources said he was affiliated to the PFLP.

Another PFLP affiliate, Walid Hasan Hamdan, 31, was detained in the village of Asira al-Qibliya south of Nablus.
