Israeli forces 'detain 3 Palestinians' in Bethlehem-area village

July 5, 2014 2:09 P.M. (Updated: July 5, 2014 2:09 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces raided the village of al-Asakira near Bethlehem overnight and detained three Palestinians, a Ma'an reporter said.

Israeli troops stormed the village after Molotov cocktails were hurled at Israeli settler vehicles traveling on a bypass road near the village.

Soldiers fired stun grenades during the incursion, causing a fire to break out in the courtyard of a house.

Troops then detained 25-year-old Abed Mahmoud Asakira, his 21-year-old brother Awad, and Yousef Ali Ayish Asakira, 20.

An Israeli military spokeswoman said the army did not detain any Palestinians overnight.
