Israeli officers clash with Palestinian youths in Aqsa compound

July 2, 2014 1:45 P.M. (Updated: July 2, 2014 3:13 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Special Israeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound Wednesday morning firing rubber-coated bullets at a group of young Palestinian men who were in the area.

Witnesses told Ma'an that stones were hurled at the Israeli officers who deployed in a square near the Moroccan gate for a few minutes. The officers responded with rubber-coated steel before they withdrew.

Meanwhile, Israeli police closed the Moroccan gate denying settlers and other Israeli visitors access to the compound, according to Israeli news reports.
