Hamas: Not interested in confrontation with Israel, but ready

July 1, 2014 6:41 P.M. (Updated: July 3, 2014 1:40 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) – Hamas is not interested in any confrontation with Israel, but if a confrontation is imposed, the movement is ready, says a spokesman of the Islamist movement.

Sami Abu Zuhri told Ma'an that “Hamas isn’t a superpower (ready) to fight a war against Israel, harming our people.”

Asked about the disappearance and killing of three Israeli teenagers, Abu Zuhri said there was only an Israeli version of the story which the occupation is trying to employ against Hamas and the Palestinian people.

The Israeli threats, added the spokesman, “do not scare Hamas,” though the movement takes these threats very seriously.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday accused Hamas of the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli teens.

“The kids were kidnapped and killed in cold blood at the hands of human beasts. Even the devil didn’t kill children, but Hamas did and it is Hamas who will pay the price,” Netanyahu told his security cabinet.
