June 22, 2014 10:25 P.M. (Updated: June 22, 2014 10:25 P.M.)
JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces Sunday afternoon detained a Palestinian man amid clashes in an East Jerusalem village, witnesses said.

Locals told Ma'an Majdi Abdullah Mahmoud, 24, was standing near a shop in al-Issawiya when he was beaten and detained by Israeli forces.

The forces were deployed in the village's alleys and checked the IDs of residents as clashes broke out with Palestinians, witnesses said.

Further details were not immediately available.

An Israeli police spokesman did not answer calls seeking comment.
