Israeli forces raid Ibdaa cultural center in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces near Bethlehem on Friday raided the Ibdaa cultural center in the Duheisha refugee camp, the director of the center told Ma'an.

Soldiers "wrecked the center, broke the front door and other doors inside, confiscated five computers, a projector, and other appliances, and stole files, money, and checks and documents from the center's safe," Ibdaa director Khalid al-Seifi told Ma'an.

"They ruined the desks and the trophies that the center's sports teams have won," al-Seifi added.

He said he was handcuffed, blindfolded, and detained, along with other Palestinians at the entrance of the camp where clashes erupted.

At dawn on Friday, hundreds of Israeli soldiers surrounded the refugee camp and launched raids into nearby areas, gathering blindcuffed detainees into the courtyard of the nearby Palestine Ahliya University.

The raids were part of a massive arrest campaign Israel has launched in the last 10 days, raiding hundreds of homes and offices and detaining nearly 400 Palestinians.
