June 9, 2014 12:46 P.M. (Updated: June 10, 2014 1:27 P.M.)
JENIN (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian university student as he was passing through a checkpoint in the northern West Bank late Sunday, security sources said.

Palestinian security sources told Ma'an that 20-year-old Usayd Jihad Ali was detained and taken into custody at a military checkpoint near Arraba crossroads in the Jenin district.

Ali is a student at al-Najah University in Nablus.

An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed that the army made an arrest in the area, saying that the young man was detained "under suspicion that he participated in illegal activity."
