Palestinian worker dies while being chased by Israeli officers

March 27, 2014 5:46 P.M. (Updated: March 30, 2014 9:34 A.M.)
BEERSHEBA (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian worker from the south Hebron hills died Thursday after he fell while being chased by Israeli police officers because he did not have a permit to work in Israel.

Paramedics of the Magen David Adom told Ma'an that they were alerted around midday to the presence of a man lying unconscious in the old industrial zone in the town of Mitzpe Ramon in southern Israel.

After an examination, the paramedics concluded that the man was dead.

The victim's family quoted coworkers as saying that he had fled after Israeli police officers stormed the construction site where he worked.

The victim fled because he did not have a permit to work inside Israel, and while running away the man fell to the ground and died.

A spokeswoman for the Negev police told Ma'an that initial reports suggested that the victim hit his head when he fell and died as a result.
