Feb. 16, 2014 7:03 P.M. (Updated: Feb. 17, 2014 9:52 A.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A leader of the Hamas movement has been arrested in the Gaza Strip, a Gaza lawmaker said Sunday.

Hamas spokesman Ayman Taha was arrested after breaking the law, the deputy head of Gaza's legislative council said, without elaborating about the nature of the crime.

Ahmad Bahar said in an interview with the al-Ghad al-Arabi television channel that Taha is "under investigation."

"He will be held accountable like any other citizen," Bahar said.
