PFLP leader confirms resignation

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Deputy secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Abdul Rahim Mallouh, announced his resignation from the position on Saturday.

Mallouh told Ma'an that he had handed in his resignation back in 2010, but was in a caretaker position until Saturday, when his resignation took effect.

Mallouh said he will remain a member of the PFLP, and will still represent them in the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

PFLP leader Jameel Mezher told Ma'an that a number of PFLP leaders including Jamil Mejdalawi, Younis al-Jaro, Abdul Aziz al Qarayah have also resigned, for reasons that were unclear.

The PFLP is a leftist Palestinian political and military organization.
