Minister: Israel to give back stolen organs

Nov. 13, 2013 10:37 P.M. (Updated: Nov. 14, 2013 7:51 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israel will soon return to the Palestinian Authority organs that were stolen during a forensic examination, a PA official said Wednesday.

Palestinian Civil Affairs Minister Hussein al-Sheikh said that an Israeli doctor stole the organs of Palestinian bodies from the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute.

Israel will soon be returning some of the organs, he said.

"The (former) director of the institute, Dr. Yehuda Hiss, admitted to stealing organs of martyrs and other Palestinians during autopsies," al-Sheikh said.

In a 2000 interview, Hiss admitted to stealing organs from dead bodies, including those of Palestinians, and sending the organs to Israeli hospitals.
