Negev man assaults, threatens to kill wife over phone call

BEERSHEBA (Ma'an) -- An Israeli magistrate court in the Negev on Monday indicted a Bedouin man in his twenties from the Negev town of Kseifa on charges of beating and threatening to kill his wife over a phone call she received.

The suspect was arrested last Thursday by Israeli police after he assaulted his wife and threatened to kill her.

Police sources told a Ma'an reporter that police were notified of a man chasing a woman in the alleys and threatening to kill her.

Initial investigations revealed that the woman answered a phone call from an unidentified caller.

Her husband forcibly seized the mobile phone, and when she tried to take it back he pushed her before she ran away. The husband then chased his wife in the street threatening to kill her.
