Nov. 6, 2013 6:28 P.M. (Updated: Nov. 6, 2013 10:07 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Israeli wardens on Tuesday assaulted Palestinian prisoners in their cells in Megiddo prison and destroyed their personal belongings, says Hiba Masalha, a lawyer appointed by the Palestinian ministry of prisoners’ affairs to defend Palestinian prisoners.

The prison wardens stormed all sections of Megiddo prison after prisoners demonstrated protesting the death their inmate 22-year-old Hasan Turabi.

The lawyer told Ma’an Wednesday that Israeli prison service shut down the prison cantina and removed all electric tools the prisoners use. Prisoners in section 5, added the lawyer, suffered the most.

She added that the prison service sent several prisoners to solitary confinement including a disabled prisoner Luay al-Ashqar. Among other prisoners who were sent to confinement were Nathir Kassab, Ghassan Haroun, Muhammad Bushkar, Ahmad Kharroub, Nasser Halabi, and Muammar Jamous.
