Gas stations union suspends strike

Nov. 4, 2013 12:41 A.M. (Updated: Nov. 4, 2013 7:10 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- West Bank gas stations suspended a strike Sunday to protest the Ministry of Finance’s decision to force stations to fully pay for fuel before receiving it.

The union of gas station owners said the decision was made to postpone the strike, set to begin 4 p.m. Sunday, during a meeting at the Ramallah Chamber of Commerce.

The union later suspended the strike after the ministry informed it that it withdrawn the decision.

Earlier Sunday, the union said many gas stations in the West Bank had run out of fuel after Israel suspended shipments.
