Gaza crews still searching for bodies of 2 men killed by Israel

Nov. 3, 2013 9:55 A.M. (Updated: Nov. 3, 2013 7:24 P.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Civil defense crews are still looking for the bodies of two men killed by an Israeli airstrike on Friday, an official at Gaza's ministry of health told Ma'an.

After finding the body of Khalid Abu Bakra, the official said, crews had to postpone the search for the other two bodies in order to coordinate with Israel to assure safety while searching near the border.

They resumed their search today, he said.

Abu Bakra's body was found on Saturday and taken to Nasser hospital in Khan Younis.

On Friday, Hamas' military wing al-Qassam Brigades announced the death of three of its members: Khalid Abu Bakra, Mahmoud Dawoud, and Mohammad al-Qassas.

The Israeli military said fighting erupted when an explosive device went off as troops were clearing a tunnel from the Gaza Strip into Israel, allegedly to be used as a springboard for militant attacks.

During the operation, Hamas targeted the Israeli soldiers with an explosive device, wounding five of them, it said in a statement.
