Palestinian 'hurls bomb' at settler school bus

Oct. 25, 2013 1:23 P.M. (Updated: Oct. 26, 2013 2:38 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian near the northern West Bank village of Yabad hurled an improvised explosive device at an Israeli settler school bus early Friday, the Israeli army said.

None of the children on the bus were injured, a spokeswoman for the army told Ma'an.

The Israeli news site Ynet reported that there was no damage to the bus.

Police were still searching the area, the spokeswoman added, but she could not immediately confirm whether there were any suspects in custody.

Later, witnesses told Ma'an that soldiers prevented residents of Yabad from harvesting olives in the area. They were held up for two hours, locals said, and then allowed access their land.

The internationally recognized Palestinian territories of which the West Bank forms a part have been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967.

More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.
