5 girls die after becoming trapped in car

HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Five Palestinian girls died after becoming trapped inside a car on Thursday in the Hebron district village of Tarqumiya, medics and an official told Ma'an.

Tarqumiya mayor Sami Fatafta said that the girls were playing in the car while their parents were harvesting olives. Unable to open the doors, four of them suffocated.

After surviving one day in critical condition, the fifth was pronounced dead in the hospital on Friday.

Ambulances rushed the girls to al-Ahli and al-Mezan hospitals from the village's medical clinics, Nasser Qabaja of the Red Crescent disaster unit told Ma'an.

Medics at the hospitals said that Nursin Mohammad Hassan Fatafta, 5; Sarah Ziyad Fatafta, 4; Rama Ahmad Fatafta, 3; and Tuqa Ziyad Hassan Fatafta, 4; and Nadin Mohammad Hassan Fatafta, 5, were pronounced dead.
