Settlers attack Palestinian vehicles near Nablus

Oct. 17, 2013 10:46 A.M. (Updated: Oct. 18, 2013 6:47 P.M.)
NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Settlers threw stones at Palestinian vehicles south of Nablus late Wednesday, damaging at least 20 cars, a Palestinian Authority official said.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activity in the northern West Bank, told Ma'an that settlers from the notorious Yizhar settlement threw stones at passing cars on a nearby road.

No injuries were reported.

The Nablus district experiences a particularly high rate of settler violence.

In 2012, there were 353 incidents of settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The UN group said that one Palestinian was killed and over 1,300 injured by settlers or Israeli security forces in incidents directly or indirectly related to settlements.

Over 90 percent of investigations into settler violence by Israeli police fail to lead to an indictment.
