BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces assaulted a journalist on Friday at a protest in al-Masara, a local popular committee said.

Soldiers brutally beat Abed al-Rahman Younis Ibedat, a reporter for the news site Al-Quds, and briefly detained him, committee coordinator Hassan Barjeya told Ma'an.

Israeli forces fired tear gas at protesters, Berjeya added.

An Israeli military spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
