NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israel on Wednesday released a man from Balata refugee camp in Nablus after detaining him for 10 years.

Residents of Balata gathered to welcome Amer Abu Shaban, who was detained for affiliation to Fatah's Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.

He spent most of his sentence in Shata and Nafha prisons, and said guards in Nafha prison, in the Negev desert, constantly raided cells.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Shawqi Arayshi, from Balata camp, was sentenced to 22 months and a 2,000-shekel ($553) fine at Salim military court.
