PFLP-GC leader dies in Syria

JERUSALEM (Ma'an) -- Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command leader Ibrahim Salama passed away in Syria on Saturday, the group said in a statement.

Salama, also known as Abu Arab, was one of the founders of the PFLP-GC and spent 13 years in Israeli prisons before being released in a swap deal in 1979.

Salama, 65, was also a writer and poet, the statement added, and passed away in Damascus after a long illness.
