Fatah slams 'normalization' activities

May 15, 2013 4:08 P.M. (Updated: May 16, 2013 4:07 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Fatah on Wednesday condemned what it called 'normalization' activities carried out by some Palestinian organizations.

"Every now and then, some organizations who call themselves Palestinian come up with activities of normalization with the occupation. These activities are held either in some European capitals or even during visits to the occupying state," the party's Ramallah office said in a statement.

"The most recent activity was a football match involving Palestinian children, both male and female," it added.

On Sunday, a football tournament, named "Neighbors United," was organized by the peace organization "Mifalot" and funded by the European Union.

It took place in Israel and brought together Israeli and Palestinian children.

Fatah said organizers had forgotten that it is Israel which does not accept the principle of coexistence by ignoring calls by the international community to achieve peace.
