Israel army: Syria rockets land in Golan Heights

May 6, 2013 7:36 P.M. (Updated: May 7, 2013 6:46 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Two rockets fired from Syria landed in the occupied Golan Heights on Monday, Israel's army said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman told Ma'an that the rockets were a result of the "domestic situation in Syria," and Israel's army has informed UN forces stationed in the area.

No injuries or damage was reported, and Israeli forces are searching the area for more information.

Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in a 1967 war and later annexed it in a move never recognized internationally.

Technically, Syria and Israel are still at war, but the Golan, a strategic plateau, has been largely quiet for decades.
