Egyptian forces seize underground weapons store in Sinai

April 8, 2013 10:05 A.M. (Updated: April 8, 2013 8:08 P.M.)
EL-ARISH, Egypt (Ma'an) -- Egyptian authorities on Monday uncovered an underground weapons store in Sinai near the Israeli border, an Egyptian security official said.

A large Egyptian force raided al-Jora in Sheikh Zuweid and found an underground warehouse containing 15 anti-tank landmines, grenades and the same type of projectiles that have been used in confrontations with the Egyptian army, a security official told Ma'an.

The warehouse was located around five kilometers from the Israeli border, the official added.
