Lawsuit filed against Obama in Ramallah over journalist's death

March 21, 2013 4:07 P.M. (Updated: March 28, 2013 10:04 P.M.)
RAMALLAH (Ma’an) – On behalf of the family of a Reuters cameraman, Lawyers for Human Rights filed a lawsuit Wednesday against US President Barack Obama accusing the administration of responsibility for the death of Mazin Dana in Iraq during the 2003 invasion.

The case was filed with the Palestinian public prosecution in Ramallah on behalf of Dana’s widow against Obama personally in his capacity as the commander in chief of the US army.

The lawyers highlighted in their plea that the US secretary of defense, then Donald Rumsfeld, sent a letter to Dana’s family in which he accepted responsibility for the killing.

The lawyers demanded that the suspects be interrogated and tried in accordance with Palestinian law.

The Ramallah public prosecution accepted the case and referred it to the Palestinian attorney general.
