Report: Israel finds smuggling tunnel under Egypt border

March 5, 2013 5:03 P.M. (Updated: March 6, 2013 11:43 P.M.)
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities found a smuggling tunnel under the Egypt-Israel border on Tuesday, the Israeli daily Maariv reported.

The newspaper quoted Israeli sources as saying that five African migrants had entered the country via a smuggling tunnel.

Israel completed the main segment of a razor-wire fence along its border with Egypt in January.

Once the final 14 kilometer section is completed within three months, the fence will stretch from Israel's Red Sea port of Eilat to the Gaza Strip on the Mediterranean.
