JENIN (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shot a Palestinian in his leg and detained two people in raids in the Jenin district overnight Wednesday, witnesses said.

Soldiers detained Samid Abu Haija from his home in al-Yamun, northwest of Jenin, and 24-year-old Mohammad Naser al-Sadi from Jenin refugee camp.

In Birqin village, west of Jenin, soldiers surrounded the home of Mohammad Qablawi and ordered residents to leave the house.

Rajih Qablawi, an official with the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, was shot in the thigh as he left the house, witnesses told Ma'an.

Israeli forces delayed an ambulance for 15 minutes before handing over the wounded man, who was taken to the Jenin governmental hospital, witnesses said.

Palestinians threw stones and bottles at the Israeli troops, who fired tear gas and rubber-coated bullets.

An Israeli military spokeswoman was not familiar with detentions in Jenin but said two people were detained in the southern West Bank, in Ramallah and Beit Ummar.
