Feb. 1, 2013 7:13 A.M. (Updated: Feb. 3, 2013 10:11 A.M.)
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Two Palestinians were injured Friday by cross-border gunfire from Israeli troops in the northern Gaza Strip.

Medics told Ma'an that ambulances evacuated two people with gunshot wounds to their feet from Abu Safiyya Hill area east of Jablila to Dar al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

An Israeli military spokesman said several Palestinians approached the border fence, and Israeli forces fired at their legs after exhausting other options. He said two Palestinians were hit, adding that soldiers acted in accordance with the rules of engagement.
