GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A 12-year-old boy was critically injured Tuesday in an explosion near al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, a health ministry official said.

An unidentified object exploded in an agricultural area east of the camp, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said, adding that the device may have been left by Israeli forces during their eight-day assault on Gaza in November.

The boy was taken to Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital for treatment, al-Qidra said.
