Egypt police shoot dead suspected smuggler in Sinai car chase

EL-ARISH, Egypt (Ma'an) -- Egyptian police on Thursday shot dead a man suspected of smuggling fuel during a car chase in north Sinai, security officials said.

Police chased a vehicle suspected of transporting smuggled fuel near Jael village in Bir el-Abd and opened fire at the car, fatally shooting the driver in the neck, security officials told Ma'an.

Police have confiscated the car, they added. The victim has not yet been identified.
